Take your taste buds on an adventure at the Winter Harvest Festival. Soak up the stunning surroundings of the Scenic Rim as you eat your way around an array of drool-worthy food stalls. The headline event of Eat Local Week, the festival is all about celebrating the region’s incredible local produce. Taking place Saturday 2 July from 10am to 4pm, you’ll get the chance to fill your basket with fresh fruit and veg, devour culinary delights, have a yarn with celebrity chefs, learn a thing or two at cooking demonstrations and watch in awe at the annual Kalbar & District Community Bank Tractor Pulling competition. With loads of kids activities on offer too, it’s a perfect day out for the whole family.

SURFACE, Miami Street Art Festival

winter events

When: 3 – 17 July, 2022 Where: Miami
Culture buffs listen up, this super cool festival is coming your way. The seaside suburb of Miami is getting a colourful glow up thanks to SURFACE, The Miami Street Art Festival. Covering over 500 square metres, prepare for your jaw to hit the pavement as you witness art exploding onto footpaths, fences, laneways and walls. Gather your mates or go for a solo stroll through the streets of Miami and watch the creative magic unfold. But it’s not just art that is being celebrated at SURFACE, there’s also interactive experiences to be had and live music to be enjoyed at Miami Marketta – think Pete Murray, The Beautiful Girls and Meg Mac. This is absolutely one for the diary

BIG CITY LIGHTS*

When: 7 – 10 July, 2022 Where: Southport
This brand new Gold Coast festival was made for the ‘gram. If Vivid Sydney and Tasmania’s Dark Mofo had a baby, you’d get BIG CITY LIGHTS*, the Gold Coast’s first immersive light festival. Wander through illuminated laneways and have your mind blown by the technicolour rainbow of large scale art installations dancing across buildings. As well as a bunch of free immersive art experiences, 3D projections and audio-visual works, there are ticketed live music gigs happening across the festival at Vinnies Dive Bar.

CRAFTED BEER & CIDER FESTIVAL

When: 27 – 28 August, 2022 Where: Kurrawa Park, Broadbeach
Lovers of liquid gold, cancel all plans for the weekend of August 27th because the Crafted Beer and Cider Festival is rolling back in Broadbeach. This year the frothy festival is taking place over not one, but two beer-filled days. Gather your mates, bring a picnic blanket and set up for a day in the sunshine at Kurrawa Park. Among the 45 brewers (pouring over 300 different drops) you’ll find local faves like Black Hops, Lost Palms and Burleigh Brewing as well as sips from all around Australia. Not a beer fan (how?), there’s also a pop-up from seltzer distillery Hard Fizz and a bunch of drool-worthy food trucks to keep you fuelled up. As the sun sets, live music acts will bless your ears including international rock royalty British India!
