Things are heating up in our picturesque part of the world and it’s not just because summer is right around the corner. In the last few months, a slew of exciting new Gold Coast restaurants and venues have swung open their doors ensuring our city is constantly evolving.
From a rooftop beach club to a café dedicated to cheese, the fresh venue energy is flowing from north to south, so without further ado, here are the new Gold Coast restaurants you need to know about.
UNCLE SU
The Star Gold Coast is home to another mouth-watering restaurant, this one to be known as Uncle Su. The newbie is fresh and sleek, with pops of gold throughout and the menu will be filled with fresh, live seafood, handmade yum cha and an exciting blend of Cantonese style dishes with Beijing and Szechuan signatures too.
You can choose to take a seat in the lounge bar, at the kitchen counter to watch the magic happen or a table surrounded by your nearest and dearest. Either way, you’re sure to love what happens next. Spoiler alert – it’s delicious!

HAZELWOOD ESTATE
If a luxurious dining experience surrounded by rolling hills and a world heritage-listed national park sounds like something you’d enjoy, Hazelwood Estate is the place to be. A privately-owned Wagyu and polo farm, you can choose to stay in a luxury cabin or pavilion but if you’d prefer to just drop in for dinner, The Paddock is a dream come true.
Celebrating the Scenic Rim’s farming heritage with a menu built around locally sourced produce, an onsite market garden and beehives and the highest quality Australian producers, The Paddock offers a breakfast, lunch and dinner experience like no other. There’s also a perfectly curated cocktail bar and in early 2022, a Wagyu Cellar Door. Exquisite.
Where: 422 Binna Burra Road, Beechmont
TOMMY’S ITALIAN
The new Italian eatery, located directly across from the ocean in Currumbin has caused quite a stir in the short time it’s been in operation, and for good reason. Tommy’s Italian is a double storey delight, decked out in fresh, bright colours and dotted with red striped umbrellas, it’s the quintessential spot for long lunches in the sun.
To eat, expect refined Italian delights; truffle-infused burrata, a grilled eggplant you’ll never forget, Italian sausage rigatoni, perfect wood-fired pizzas and of course, Tommy’s Tiramisu for dessert. He’s the Gold Coast’s new dreamboat and we guarantee you’ll be head over heels for him too.
Where: 818 Pacific Parade, Currumbin
FREDDY’S
Fried chicken, burgers and salads at their absolute finest is what you can expect from Burleigh Heads’ newest eatery. It’s called Freddy’s and it’s a very good-looking space, all vintage-esque and perfectly at home a stone’s throw from the beach. It was created as a place for post saltwater hangs, serving up quality takeaway eats in the form of a mouth-watering menu stacked with chargrilled roast chickens, seasonal salads, burgers, chicken and hot chip rolls, milkshakes and more.
Overseeing the kitchen you’ll find Chef-extraordinaire Guillaume Zike, of Burleigh Pavilion and The Tropic fame so of course, you can expect the highest quality produce including chemical-free chickens, farm-to-plate salads and fresh, seasonal ingredients. This is not your regular takeaway joint – you’ll walk away feeling nourished and absolutely stoked.
Where: 19 Connor Street, Burleigh Heads
CALI BEACH CLUB
A beach club, rooftop bar in the heart of Surfers Paradise is nothing short of spectacular and the Gold Coast was lucky enough to acquire exactly that when Cali Beach Club opened recently. It’s all your sun-soaked, Mediterranean holiday dreams come true with stunning pools to sink into, booths, cabanas and day beds for lounging all day long plus live music and a menu with tasty bites and beverages.
Choose from share plates and platters, sliders and salads and wash it all down with a Cali Signature cocktail or two. Cali Beach Club is the perfect place for a day of dancing and dipping, so gather the crew and get in there.

Here we have the Australian dream – a café dedicated to good coffee, toasties and wine. What more could one want out of a new Gold Coast restaurant? Cheese Me Baby is market stall turned eatery-in-a-converted-shipping-container and it is a very exciting addition to our dining scene.
It’s a relaxed, chill-on-the-grass style of place where you can order a wine or two and a cheese plate and kick back in the sunshine. There are the aforementioned toasties with three, goodie packed options to choose from (menu changes regularly) plus a picnic box filled with cheeses, salami and matching goodies plus coffee from Burleigh’s Social Espresso and a selection of sups from Mermaid’s SOMM Wine Store. A mecca for fans of fromage.
Where: Corner of Tamborine Street and Gold Coast Highway, Mermaid Beach
ATRIUM BAR
Now it’s quite likely that you’ve spent a night or two making memories on the dancefloor at the original Atrium Bar at The Star Gold Coast. But as they say, all good things must come to an end and in this case, that end certainly is a happy one. The beloved Atrium Bar has undergone quite the renovation of late, moving to a new section of The Star and taking on a bold new look.
As you’d expect, the space is still centred around a dance floor, complete with a shiny disco ball but now there’s an impressive selection of signature cocktails and eats like antipasto boards and pizzas. Time to make some new memories.

Central Gold Coast has scored with the addition of this family friendly craft brewery, tap house and live music venue in Ashmore. Belgian Brewers, Jimmy Van Eetvelde and Annelies Nijskens, started Madocke Beer Brewing Company in their garage and are levelling up with large scale production of their boutique brews in the new premises, as well as adding a place where people can gather and enjoy their range of delicious ales. Given their heritage, the focus is on Belgian-style beers, but there’s plenty of variety on tap (try the Cherry Saison made with real cherries) as well as cider, wine and cocktails. There’ll be food trucks on Fridays and Saturdays, plus live music on Sundays, making this the perfect local location for good times and great brews. It’s the kind of place where kids and dogs are always welcome. The grand opening is on October 31st, 2021.
Where: 286 Southport Nerang Rd, Ashmore
TROPIC VICE
A sun-soaked rooftop restaurant nestled within Nobby Beach, Tropic Vice has been touted as Palm Springs, California meets Miami, Florida which is probably the best time one can have. The menu combines flavours from South American and the Caribbean with treats like fresh oysters and Ceviche to start and dishes like fish and potato balls, tacos and chilli garlic prawns to follow.
To drink there are cocktails that scream fun like the Flamingo Spritz and a Watermelon Summertini but there are also tequila slushies and of course all the classics. Tropic Vice is the place to be if you’re in the mood for a colour-filled afternoon that’ll transport you to the tropical island destination you’ve been dreaming of.
Where: 2215 Gold Coast Hwy, Nobby Beach
SIBLINGS KIRRA
One of the most anticipated openings of 2021 is Siblings Kirra, right on the beach and taking over the space where the iconic Pizza Hut lived for decades. The space, found inside a beautiful 1920s shack is currently being restored by famed local restaurateurs the Cianci family whose work you’ve no doubt sampled at Edgewater and Fish Emporium.
The Mediterranean menu will feature tapas-style plates with plenty of fresh seafood and of course, a stunning cocktail menu including breakfast cocktails. Siblings Kirra is due to open in December. Stay tuned…
