No-one is more deserving of a special treat than our mums. But this Mothers Day, instead of the boring box of chocolates or dressing gown she doesn’t really need, why not surprise and delight her with a thoughtful experience she’ll truly cherish? Here’s some ideas to get the spoiling started.
High Tea on the High Seas
With tiered plates loaded up with petit sweet and savoury pastries and dainty cakes and scones to accompany her complimentary glass of sparkling, take high tea to the next level on a cruise. The team from Sea World Cruises are poised to give your mum an extra special day out on the water with their newly-renovated, air-conditioned “Spirit of Elston” adorned with flowers and an onboard photographer to capture special mummy moments perfectly. Choose from two cruise times – bookings are essential.
Picnic With Alpacas
Pop mum creekside on a pretty BYO vintage picnic blanket and tickle her tastebuds with a picnic basket for two at O’Reilly’s Canungra Valley Vineyards. You’ll find charcuterie delights, chocolates and a bottle of local O’Reilly’s artisan Lona Gold sparkling wine in the basket to enjoy in the sun dappled grounds. Add an element of surprise by arranging the cutest Alpaca friends to join you from Mountain View Alpaca Farm located right next door. Mothers Day picnics are available all weekend Saturday May 8th to Sunday May 9th. Bookings are essential.
Did someone say Bottomless Brunch?
Oh yes we did, and there’s plenty of places on the Gold Coast where mum can go bottoms up. For très chic vibes and sweet views overlooking the sea, Hyde Paradiso at Peppers Soul hits the spot. $99 gets 2 hours of sipping Chandon sparkling or rose, spritzers and a selection of four Mediterranean tapas. Every Saturday and Sunday, from 11am to 1pm, Bookings essential.
If mum likes to get glamorous, The Star’s boozy brunch will elevate her social status to heart eyes as she settles in to high life overlooking The Darling’s stunning infinity edge pool, sipping premium champagne for two hours. A special brunch menu has been designed for the occasion – expect to pay from $150 to $200 per person depending on what delicacies you choose to sup. Every Sunday 11-1pm or 1.15 to 3.15pm.
Sleep in before a Barista breakfast
With four delectable destinations to choose from and all-day breakfast served at each, let mum sleep in and then treat her to a really great coffee and her choice of sweet or savoury cuisine. Mermaid, Burleigh, Palm Beach and Currumbin all have their own local Background Barista serving bowls, benny’s, bagels and more. She can even have a cheeky pre-noon mimosa and back up for lunch after. Bookings are advisable – as these guys are well loved.
Make a gift for Mum, with Mum
What could say “I love you” more than making a handmade gift? And we are not talking run of the mill gifts either. A workshop at POT studios is a perfect chance to connect over clay and make something beautiful together you’ll both treasure forever. A range of workshops offer help making handmade humble fruit bowls and coffee cups through to 12-piece dinner sets and even multi-day pottery making retreats. Gifts cards are available or pre-book a class you think your mum will love.
Weekend G&T
Remember holidaying with mum in the humble family caravan? Why not stoke the nostalgia now you’re bigger and treat mum to a camp side soiree that includes a free bottle of her (and your) fav gin? The Botanist Van is the cutest (and only) gin dedicated caravan in Queensland and when you hire it over a long weekend in June, you’ll receive your own bottle of Botanist Gin to go with your very kitsch camper. Self-drive or have delivered to your fav spot. It sleeps 4 and is pet friendly too.
Soak and Spaaaaahhhhh
What mum wouldn’t love a trip to the spa for some extra-parental pampering? Sign her up for a session at Soak Bathhouse where she can rotate through mineral infused waters to steam, plunge and bubble her way to a more relaxed, rejuvenated and revived self.
For the ultimate in luxury, check mum in to the newest 5-star on the block, JW Marriott Resort for their Le Grande Ruby Pamper Package. Mums day will begin with a beautiful breakfast at Citrique Restaurant before she surrenders to the soothing embrace of Ruby Spa for a full day where she will enjoy a decadent array of treatments designed to indulge her body, skin and soul. Champagne lunch will follow her Deluxe Radiant Facial with Collagen Eye Treatment before her hand and feet treatments begin. An ultra plush complimentary bath robe is included for added luxury.
Happy Mothers Day, Mums!
