Looking for something different to do these Easter holidays? Here’s your 2021 guide to what’s on, on the coast. Take your pick from a tasty selection of sporting events, decadent dining options and awesome activities for the kids. However you like to holiday, we’ve got you covered.


Jellurgal Little Explorers – Burleigh Heads

Jellurgal Aboriginal Cultural Centre is holding holiday workshops that deliver a brilliant immersive experience into First Nations culture. Come and explore the magic of the “Dreaming Mountain” (Burleigh Heads) with an art workshop, activities and guided walk through Burleigh Heads National Park, along the shores of Tallebudgera Creek. Kids will learn about traditional life, bush tucker, fishing and hunting practices and the connection to the land displayed by the Yugambeh people from a member of the local Aboriginal community. They’ll also take part in an arts workshop and can take their creation home at the end of the tour.

Jellurgal Little Explorers tours are running on selected dates during the school holidays at 9am, 11am and 1pm. Cost is $25 per child. Bring your togs for a swim in the creek afterwards! 

Sky High Cinema – Surfers Paradise

Catch a movie among the clouds as the Gold Coast Film Festival presents Sky High Cinema. Enjoy six days of family-friendly movies that will have the kids soaring with joy! With the program picked especially for children, the selected films celebrate the magic of flying, exploring the universe and feeling the wind beneath your wings.

Take one of the world’s fastest elevators to SkyPoint Observation Deck, 77 levels and 230m above the ground. Grab a box of popcorn, kick back and make yourself comfortable as you enjoy a movie, complemented by a panoramic view of the Gold Coast and Pacific Ocean.

  • Saturday 10th April – Up (PG)
  • Thursday 15th April – Cloudy With A Chance of Meatballs (G)

Movies are screened at 2pm. Tickets are $7 and include popcorn. SkyPoint Observation Deck entry ticket must be purchased separately.

Level Up Skate Park – Currumbin

Book your budding skater into a holiday program at Level Up Skate Park to give their skills and confidence a huge boost. Available for a range of abilities from beginner to intermediate, holiday lessons are run by qualified coaches who get a kick from sharing their love of skating to make lessons a whole lot of fun. The holiday programs involve hourly sessions every day for a week. Scooter and BMX lessons are also available.

  • Week 1: 6th – 9th April $150 for four days
  • Week 2: 12th-16th April $180 for five days

Brickman Wonders of the World – Coomera

Explore a world of large-scale LEGO® brick masterpieces, built with intricate detail and offering a journey of discovery at Dreamworld this Easter. Built by “The Brickman” aka Ryan McNaught and his team of skilled craftsmen, this unforgettable experience will take you around the world – no passport required!  With iconic structures such as the Taj Mahal, Arc de Triomphe and the Leaning Tower of Pisa, you’ll see some of the world’s most famous landmarks – here on the Gold Coast. And the best part? It’s free with your Dreamworld entry, so make a day of it!

Brickman Wonders of the World will be at Dreamworld from March 27th – April 18th.


Good Friday Seafood Marketta – Miami

It’s a firm favourite with locals and visitors alike for the vibrant atmosphere, funky bars, live music and scrumptious street food. And this Good Friday you can enjoy Miami Marketta with a special seafood twist, just in time for Easter. All your fave foodies will be whipping up seafood dishes from around the world, from Italian seafood marinara, to Mexican fish tacos, mussels, tempura prawns, chowder and more. It’s going to be a difficult decision with a delicious outcome!

To secure your table, purchase a $5 ticket per person here and dine and drink with no public holiday surcharge. There are two sessions available; 5 – 7pm which is ideal for families, and 7.30 – 10pm for those who want to party on their public holiday. Tickets are available here.

QT At Home – Surfers Paradise

Easter is traditionally a time of feasting and QT Gold Coast totally gets it. Some of us love to eat but hate to cook, especially when on holidays! Bam Bam Bakehouse – Mermaid Beach

It’s the Gold Coast go-to for beautiful baked goods and every year they serve up special Easter treats. This year, Bam Bam Bakehouse are brining the indulgent and delicious with their specialty hot cross buns. Their Hot Cross Bun French Toast comes drenched in maple syrup with the option to add bacon and banana, or you could take it to the next level and have a hot cross bun filled with creme patissiere. 11/10!


Rugby: Titans vs Raiders at CBus Stadium – Robina

Get along to a live rugby match and rub shoulders with local fans as they cheer on their team, the mighty Gold Coast Titans. There’s nothing like the buzz of a live game and you’ll witness an incredible blend of speed, skill, physicality and teamwork showcased in professional rugby league. 

The Canberra Raiders are a benchmark team of the competition and will provide a stern test for the young Titans at prime time on Easter Saturday. Purchase tickets here.

Gold Coast Triathlon – Robina

It doesn’t take much to work up a sweat in our tropical climate so hats off to anyone who’s up for the challenge of running a triathlon this time of year! The Gold Coast Triathlon – Luke Harrop Memorial has long been known as the triathlon for triathletes – if there is one race on the calendar not to miss, this is it. Join in for some fast and flat racing at Robina, or show your support as a spectator and cheer competitors over the finish line. With Sprint, Enticer and Kool Kids options available, there is something for everyone.

Kool Kids: 100m swim + 2km bike + 500m run

Enticer: 300m swim + 6.7km bike + 2.5km run
Sprint: 750m swim + 20km bike + 5km run

Australian Age Swimming Championships – Southport

The 2021 Australian Age Swimming Championships is set to make a splash at the world-class swimming and diving facility, Gold Coast Aquatic Centre from 5th – 12th April, 2021. It’s set to be one of the biggest years of competition yet, with young swimmers from age 11 and up fighting for the title in their event. The major event is predicted to feature around 2,000 competitors, over 20,000 spectators and will be live-streamed across Australia, but seeing it live will be even better! Get tickets here.
