What is the process after I apply for a role at GCT?

If your application is successfully shortlisted you will be contacted for an interview and may be required to undergo assessments and exercises as part of the selection process.
If you are unsuccessful in being granted an interview for a specific job then we advise you accordingly via email once the vacancy has been filled. GCT’s end-to-end recruitment processes generally take 6 – 8 weeks.

What attributes and experience is looked for in GCT employees?

GCT seeks applicants whose current and/or previous skills and experience match the specific requirements outlined in the selection criteria of the position description.
In addition to this, GCT seeks professions with a ‘can do’ attitude who are committed to and passionate about tourism and who have knowledge or display the ability and desire to acquire knowledge of the organisation and its operations. An honest and ethical approach to both work and personal life and a positive attitude and a team spirit are essential qualities.

What types of roles are available at GCT?

Much of our work concerns the marketing of the Gold Coast region as a leisure and business event tourism destination. Therefore we employ a large number of marketing professionals within the areas of consumer and campaign marketing, regional business/sales development, communications and marketing support including brand, digital, public relations, corporate communications etc. We also have a small support staff of IT, Finance, Administration and Human Resources.

Is the work at GCT full-time, part-time or casual?

It depends on the job, but GCT generally engages people on 3 year full-time maximum term contracts, part-time, fixed term contracts, temporary maternity contract(s) or casual basis.

Do many roles become available at GCT?

We are a relatively small not-for-profit organisation and opportunities for available roles are limited.

How many staff does GCT employ?

GCT employs approximately 50 full-time equivalent staff. The majority of GCT staff are based at the head office at Broadbeach, Queensland and at our Visitor Information Centres located in both Surfers Paradise and Coolangatta Airport, Queensland. In addition we contract representatives in key international locations including India and China.
