Things to do on Valentine's Day

Phoebe Lee | Travel Blogger

As January comes to a frighteningly fast end, Valentine's Day begins to appear on the horizon. It can be overwhelming to try and find the best way to show the person you love just how much you care by spoiling them on the big day. To help you plan out your perfect Valentine's Day, here are some tips on fun, romantic and adventurous things to do on the Gold Coast.

Explore local wineries

Take a day to explore the amazing wineries on the Gold Coast. Find yourself a designated driver then spend the day sampling wines at Sarabah Estate Vineyard, Cedar Creek Estate and Winery and O'Reilly's Canungra Valley Vineyard.

Romance on the high seas

Grab your sweetie and sail off into the sunset with a dinner cruise aboard Wyndham Cruises or, for something a little more intimate and glamorous, climb aboard a Gondola Cruise. It's a unique way to spend your Valentine's Day.

Hot air balloon ride

For a very romantic and unforgettable Valentine's Day, take off with Hot Air Balloon Gold Coast and float peacefully above the world. Your flight is followed with a private table for two on the verandah for a champagne breakfast at O'Reilly's Historic Homestead at Canungra Valley Vineyard, with transfers included.

Romantic dining

Treat your beloved to a romantic meal at one of the Gold Coast's many fantastic restaurants with a view. Places like Four Winds 360, Videre Restaurant, Seascape Restaurant & Bar, Seaduction and Oskars on Burleigh all offer delicious food in a gorgeous setting.

Watch the sun rise or set

Wake up early, pack a breakfast picnic with fresh fruit, bakery goodies, coffee and juice and head to Mt Warning or Burleigh Heads to watch the sunrise. If the early morning start feels crazy, opt for an afternoon picnic of cheese, crackers, nuts and dried fruit at Mt Tamborine to watch the sunset.

Be kids again!

Blag the day off work and spend it behaving like kids again! Visit a theme park and eat all the fairy floss your body can handle then ride roller coasters for hours on end. You could also try a good old-fashioned game of mini-golf at Putt Putt Mermaid Beach or King Tutt's Putt Putt.

Picnic for two

There are plenty of scenic spots to settle down for a picnic around the Gold Coast. For the hinterland vibe - Currumbin Valley Rockpools is beautiful; or Rainbow Bay is ideal if you want to finish off with a romantic stroll along the beach.

Back to nature

For the person in your life who loves the great outdoors, take them to the new Suspension Bridge in Springbrook and grab a bite at Dancing Waters Café, or visit some of the spectacular waterfalls on the Gold Coast. These include; Lip Falls, Killarney Glen, Curtis Falls, Natural Bridge and Morans Falls, just to name a few.

A day of pampering

Sign you and your honey bunch up for a day of pure relaxation and pampering at a day spa. Most will have indulgent packages available, including everything from body scrubs and facials to soothing massages and body masks. Check out the spas at RACV Royal Pines Resort, Sheraton Mirage Resort, Watermark Hotel, or Surfers Paradise Marriott Resort and more.

Get their heart pumping in a different way

Not everyone wants to take it easy on Valentine's Day; many want to be surprised with fun adventure activities they'll never forget. If this sounds like your babe, try adrenaline activities like:

Whatever it is their heart desires, you'll be sure to find the perfect way to celebrate here on the Gold Coast!
