Things to do on rainy days

There are 300 days of beautiful sunshine on the Gold Coast each year. As for the other 65 days... well, there's no guarantee for perfect beach weather.

But fear not... if you encounter a few rainy days during your stay, you don't have to wait for the sun to come back out. There are loads of activities to keep you entertained rain, hail or shine!

Here are some suggestions:


Holoverse in Southport is the first place where you can become immersed in holograms that you can interact with and walk through. Leave the world behind and visit wonderous new worlds, explore ancient civilizations, fight robots, or turn into dragons to battle your friends in the sky! You will even be able to see holographic wings flapping on your own back.

Air Factory Trampoline Park

Air Factory is a massive adrenaline zone full of wall-to-wall trampolines. There are various zones to suit everyone and it's a great place to take the restless kids to bounce about and get some energy out of their system (especially when they haven't been able to run around outside for a while!). Parents can even sit back and watch all the fun from the mezzanine level cafe.

The Escape Hunt Experience Gold Coast

Escape Hunt is the first live escape game on the Gold Coast where, as a team, you gather clues and solve puzzles in order to solve the mystery and escape the room. It is exciting, challenging, educational and fun for all ages and ability levels.

Timezone Surfers Paradise

You can't go past this old family favourite, with all the best games like racing, bowling and basketball (plus the other 300!). Not to mention several awesome activities all under the one roof like laser skirmish, bumper cars, mini golf and bowling. Timezone is loads of fun for all ages, so there's no doubt that the games will keep the kids happy and entertained on a rainy day.

Staying on the southern end of the Gold Coast? There's now a Timezone in The Strand at Coolangatta.

7D cinema

Did someone say Virtual Reality? At 7D Cinema, you sit amidst all the action in a simulator platform, which moves according to what is happening on screen. The interactive 3D glasses are just the beginning, with more than seven different special effects that kick in during the movies.

Ripley's Believe It or Not

Ripley's offers 15 individually themed galleries of 350 genuine artefacts, remarkable relics and rare treasures from around the world as well as cool and interactive exhibits. Keep out of the rain and embark on a self-guided adventure filled with amazing stories of history and adventure, mystery, illusions, and life-size figurines of unusual characters that actually lived.

King Tutt's Putt Putt

King Tutt's Putt Putt is the ultimate mini-golf challenge located in the heart of Surfers Paradise. They have two fully themed indoor courses, which feature glow in the dark caves through Ancient Egypt and King Kong amongst ferocious dinosaurs.

Draculas Haunted House

The Haunted House offers an amazing interactive journey through creepy comedy satire, museum oddities and optical illusions. Set in a five level purpose built building; the state of the art animation and special effects bring the attraction to life. Wander through and experience weird and amusing collections of memorabilia and more.


This attraction provides you and your family with a unique journey into maze-like worlds of wonder with a series of multi-sensual environments. Each room is filled with special effects, atmospheric sound fields, groovy music and spectacular illusions. It's fun for all ages over 8 - and a great way to forget all about the weather outside.

Game Over

Game Over has three adventure activities under the one roof. Find the need for speed with indoor karting at the first electric powered karting centre in Australia; challenge yourself with the Clip 'n' Climb artificial climbing walls or battle it out in the 240m2 high-tech lazer tag arena. You can have your pick of any one of their awesome activities and still stay indoors.

Bounce Inc Trampoline Park

Bounce is a massive indoor trampoline park, all about jumping high and landing soft and safe. Bounce takes the rush of getting airborne and adds a bunch of new dimensions, including Free-Jumping, The Super Tramp, Slam Dunk, The Wall, The Big Bag and Dodgeball. Bounce Robina also exclusively features BTV, which allows you to capture footage of your moves, check out the playback in venue or online and share it with your mates.

Slideways Go Karting

Slideways' European style indoor Go Karting track is the perfect way to stay indoors while getting your adrenalin pumping! The unique track surface is like no other in the southern hemisphere, allowing the karts to drift around. They can run up to 14 karts on the track at one time in multiple racing formats, and cater for all levels of experience and from individuals to large groups.

iFly Indoor Skydiving

Never have your skydiving adventures postponed again with iFly's Indoor skydiving facilities that simulate the free fall experience felt when skydiving. The specially constructed vertical wind tunnels include a flight chamber which allows individuals or groups to fly within the tunnel and perform aerobatic manoeuvres in a safe and controlled environment.

Surf World

Surf World Gold Coast is Queensland's only surfing museum. The exhibition includes an extensive collection of surf boards highlighting the evolution of design and technology from the early 1930s to today. There's also amazing artwork, photography and memorabilia. Learn about the history of Queensland's surfing and beach culture and check out galleries of today's surfing champions.

Superbee Honey World

Superbee Honeyworld is the home of live bee shows and a large range of honey and bee hive products. Witness the amazing process from flower to flavour and enter a fascinating glass room where you can see tens of thousands of bees at work. Watch honey being extracted from the frame of the honeycomb and learn about its medicinal benefits. You can even taste different varieties of pure Australian honey the bees produce for free or you're your own beeswax as a unique souvenir.
