Tweed Eco Cruises

Tweed Eco Cruises is here to share with visitors their region and the story of their region; it’s one rich in history, nature and seafood. They are a second-generation, family-owned and operated business with cruises including the River and Rainforest, Crab and Yabbies Tour, Pot to Plate Adventure, Bush Tucker Cruise or self-drive barbecue options.

The Tweed River, a 78-kilometre waterway on which they cruise, runs through the heart of the Tweed Valley with ever-changing views of Wollumbin (Mt Warning), riverside villages, sugar cane fields, mangroves and subtropical rainforest.

Ecotourism is central to their philosophies and practices; their mission is to be a benchmark for other tourism businesses operating in the Tweed region and beyond. They aim to inspire and assist other local businesses within their region to protect and promote their pristine natural environment, the Tweed, through the provision of unique and educational activities with a minimal environmental footprint and sustainable operations.

Four-Hour Pot to Plate Adventure


A unique four-hour Australian Indigenous Pot to Plate Adventure exclusive to Tweed Eco Cruises. This tour is an intimate cultural and nature-based experience with a Yugambah and Bundjalung Nation Elder. Led by an Indigenous guide, explore the Tweed River on a customised boat. Guests will experience traditional vs modern day crab and fish hunting techniques of the region's first inhabitants. Watch as your guide cooks the catch over an open fire on the beach for your dining pleasure. The tour visits an oyster farm with a freshly shucked tasting session, a walk through the mangroves learning spear hunting techniques, pull up commercial crab pots and learn about the mud crabs famous to this region. The freshest seafood is caught and cooked before your eyes complimented with the best of the Tweed Valley produce served on a sand bank for the ultimate dining experience!

Two-Hour Crabs and Yabbie's Tour


The ultimate Australian Two Hour Crab Catching Cruise, where guests explore the Tweed River and Terranora Lakes. The Tweed region is famous for its mud crab where professional crabbers work and trap in the picturesque surrounds of the Terranora Lakes. The tour has a number of hands on experiences for guests to try, from pumping for Yabbies (small native crustacean), pulling up crab pots to catch mud crabs, bird feeding and fishing. Guest are given a live mud crab demonstration to learn about the mud crabs and guests may enjoy a seafood tasting plate on board. Cruise through oyster farms and learn about how oysters are farmed. The tour is an ideal way to experience the natural environment and enjoy the regions famous seafood fresh from the pot to the plate.

3.5 Hour Tweed River and Rainforest Cruise


Tweed Eco Cruises River and Rainforest Cruise aboard the river cruiser The Golden Swan delivers an unforgettable 3.5-hour return trip journey along the Tweed River. Guests have the opportunity to relax while taking in the abundant nature that the regions river and mangrove system hold, whilst enjoying local Tweed Valley grown tea and roasted coffee served with a beautiful morning tea. The tour provides commentary where guest learn about the regions history and world class eco system that forms part of the UNESCO World Heritage Gondwana Rainforest. Enjoy a bird feeding experience with birds of prey and pelicans at Stott’s Island nature reserve.

Choose your own adventure! Self-drive your barbecue boat and enjoy a free and easy day on the water. With a capacity of up to 10 people - enjoy a leisurely cruise on the Tweed River, throw in a line, or pull up on the many riverside beaches and take a refreshing swim. Impress your mates with your cooking skills when you fire up the onboard barbecue. Tweed Eco Cruises take the hassle out of fishing with No fishing license required. NB: The person hiring the pontoon must be over the age of 21.
