User generated content rights

Congratulations! You're most likely reading this because we think your photo or video is pretty awesome, and we're keen to share it through our digital marketing channels. Our blog, social media and digital channels have a combined following of over 2.5 million people, and we’d love to share your content to our followers.

Once we see an image or video that we think would look epic across our digital channels, we'll reach out to the original user asking for consent to share. We'll always credit the original content creator by acknowledging their username, name, photography or content creation page with credit in the caption, or in the post itself.

If you're cool with letting us share your content via approval in a direct message, email and/or you reply with the hashtag #YesGoldCoast, you hereby agree to the following terms and conditions.


We hereby acknowledge that you as the original content creator, own all content and information you post or share with us by tagging #WeAreGoldCoast, such as posting or sharing comments, photos, and videos (referred to as “User Content”).

Destination Gold Coast does NOT claim ANY ownership rights  in (photos or videos) that you post on across any of our social media ‘walls’, or streams of ‘tagged posts’ or by use of #WeAreGoldCoast. However, by submitting you hereby grant to Destination Gold Coast a non-exclusive, royalty-free, worldwide, revocable, non-transferable, perpetual licence to use, modify, delete from, add to, publicly display and/or reproduce, your (photo/video), including editing, compiling and assembling video works, interstitials or the use of photographic works as underlying works compiled into moving image without limitation in any online media formats (including e-newsletters) and through any social media channels, pages or accounts, websites, blog articles and other owned digital channels.

If your (photo/video) is used on Destination Gold Coast’s digital or social platforms (inclusive of), your name and/or business will always be credited. We may also choose at our sole discretion to link back to your website or business social media profile. These channels include, but are not limited to Facebook, Messenger, Instagram, Twitter, YouTube, TripAdvisor, Weibo and WeChat.

Destination Gold Coast may, at its discretion attach logos or other branding devices on photos or videos.

You can revoke this licence at any time by contacting us in writing at and informing us that you no longer want us to use your photo.

We may display advertisements in connection with your content or on pages where your content may be viewed by you or others.

Our license to your content is royalty free, meaning we do not owe you anything else (financial, or through further content credits/acknowledgement post initial credit) in connection with our use of your User Content.

We may exercise our rights anywhere in the world.

Finally, our license is perpetual, meaning that our license lasts for an indefinite period of time, unless you choose to revoke this, at any point in time.

You declare that:

You own all rights to your User Content or, alternatively, that you have the right to grant Destination Gold Coast the rights described above.

Your User Content does not infringe the intellectual property rights, privacy rights, publicity rights, or other legal rights of any third party.

You have the approval of all person/persons depicted in the User Content for Destination Gold Coast and associated third parties to distribute and use across marketing materials.

We may refuse to accept or transmit User Content for any reason. We may remove User Content from our channels for any reason.


When your User Content is displayed as detailed above, your social media handle may be displayed as detailed above. Destination Gold Coast collects and processes this information as necessary for the performance of this contract between us. We work with a service provider to help us review, gather, and display your User Content.
