NOWHERE BUT THE GOLD COAST WILL DO FOR SOUTHERN HEMISPHERE’S LARGEST PHARMACY CONFERENCE
Organisers of the 2024 Australian Pharmacy Professional Conference & Trade Exhibition (APP) say that there was nowhere better for their 7,000 delegates to network, learn and enjoy than sunny Gold Coast.
Bringing together proprietors and pharmacy students alongside pharmacists and other industry professionals for a wealth of networking, upskilling and development opportunities, the conference team drew on years of positive experiences to coordinate another highly successful event.
In 2024 organisers knew they needed a few key elements to attract delegates and keep them connected during their stay:
- Sole use of the Gold Coast Convention Centre
- A high volume of accommodation within walking distance of the venue
- Superb offsite dinner options
- A ‘drawcard’ destination for delegates from other states and internationally.
The ‘conference village’ feel of Broadbeach when the conference is taking place is one of the big reasons we come back to the Gold Coast every year.

PERFECT PRESCRIPTION FOR EVENTS BIG AND SMALL
The APP conference is the largest pharmacy conference in the southern hemisphere. Supported by official destination partners Tourism & Events Queensland and Experience Gold Coast, organisers delivered a four-day educational program featuring over 120 industry, business, clinical and motivational speakers.
The Broadbeach precinct proved, once again, to be the perfect location for learning, connecting and relaxing, thanks to the number of conference venues, large and small, and the wide variety of accommodation options close by. Logistically ideal, it was also considered a cost-effective choice.
Hosting an event on the Gold Coast offers better value for money than the major cities – it also supports a ‘captive audience’ as in those locations you tend to lose local delegates who pop back to work. Taking people away to the Gold Coast minimises that issue, with the bonus of a spectacular location and enviable weather.

Securing sole use of the impressive Gold Coast Convention and Exhibition Centre – with its versatile meeting, event and exhibition spaces - was central to this hugely positive experience. But while organisers were most impressed by the level of service provided by local suppliers, for delegates it was all about the location and weather.
Charmed by beach life and the typically glorious Gold Coast sunshine, the opulence of The Star Gold Coast and a multitude of exceptional dining experiences, delegate feedback rated the Gold Coast ‘extremely attractive’ and the conference itself a resounding success.
