PLAY STREET

Pacific Fair has answered our shopping-with-kids prayers with the installation of Play Street. A little wonderland for young ones and a haven for parents; it’s a worthy reward for good behaviour while you get your shopping on. Tucked neatly next to Krispy Kreme and Crema Espresso… seems it’s a reward for you too.

TAKE THE TREETOP CHALLENGE FOR JUNIORS

Tyke-sized Tarzan wannabes can take to the trees at the new Treetop Challenge Juniors.  Low and slow-ish (compared to the full-sized Treetops Challenge) this Hinterland adventure course in Mount Tamborine has been designed especially for 3-7 year old gliders and climbers.

YOUR MISSION, IF YOU CHOOSE TO ACCEPT IT

If your kids were ones to jump at Pokémon GO, this one’s for you. Combining virtual reality with the outdoors, the Nature Play Passport allows kids and families to accept missions on the screen then get out in the green.  Kids can build avatars and earn prizes by doing things like climbing trees and building sand castles at the Coast’s parks and beaches. Certainly one to keep them entertained when sightseeing on holiday.

VISIT THE HOME OF THE ARTS

HOTA (Home of the Arts) is home to year round family activities from art workshops, children’s theatre and dance; to picnics on the grass, and relaxing spaces to catch a movie. An easy-going, newly revamped space, HOTA’s outdoor stage has hosted everything from concerts for puppies to big name acts. See what’s on, and lock in some culture.

TEE OFF AT TOPGOLF

Want to see just how far you can slog a micro-chipped golf ball into the wide blue yonder?  Then you’re in the right place.  Topgolf is now open (right next to Movie World in Oxenford) and it is a golfing par-tee like no other.  Gather the tribe in one of the climate controlled hitting bays and dream of the day your little one goes Pro. Loud golf pants are optional, but totally recommended.

THE GOOD KIND OF TROLLING

It seems anything Justin Timberlake touches turns to gold, but the Trolls Movie has taken it up a notch with every other sparkly colour under the sun. Kids will love feeling like they have stepped through the screen into Trolls Village at Dreamworld. Get comfy on the bright green turf as the kids investigate larger than life scenes, dance to the live shows and decorate cupcakes. Half- eaten dessert for Mum, winning!

CALL ON ANCIENT RAINFOREST CREATURES

Sure, you could watch a movie about prehistoric creatures, OR you could step into a real life version in the Lost Valley at Currumbin Wildlife Sanctuary. Walk through an ancient Gondwanan rainforest full of exotic species. Five acres of lush, tropical green are home to lemurs, cotton-top tamarinds, red pandas, reptiles, birds and over 250 plant species.  Walk through the land of the dinosaurs – without fear of becoming a Velociraptor’s lunch. Our favourite? The massive guinea pig Capybara.
