    Australian Open Bowls

    After moving to the sunny Gold Coast in 2015, the Australian Open has become a true festival of bowls, with 14 days of action played across the 14 host clubs on the Gold Coast. Over 2,500 bowlers from across Australia, and indeed the world are expected to attend again, with entry being completely open to any registered bowler! Not only is the Australian Open the World's Biggest Bowls Festival, it is also the richest bowls event in the world with a staggering total of over AUD$270,000 prize money across the 13 disciplines. Australian Open fast facts: A completely open-to-enter event with no qualifying; Sectional rounds played in each discipline initially, with qualifiers progressing through to knockouts; Completely random draw - no seedings in either sectional or knockout play; Up to 15 hosts clubs; 14 days of competition; 13 disciplines with a total prize pool of over AUD$270,000; Over 500 prize money places across all disciplines. A true festival atmosphere, with live events and "Mega Bowl" events; Two days of finals filmed and broadcast on Fox Sports.

    BUNBURRA 2023

    COST: FreePCYC Queensland’s Indigenous Beach Touch Football Tournament. Bunburra, the Yugambeh word for ‘beach’ is PCYC Queensland’s Indigenous beach touch football tournament that provides young boys and girls aged 14-17 from twelve Indigenous communities the chance to participate in an annual competition held on the Gold Coast. Bunburra fosters sporting skills and leadership qualities and rewards motivated young people who are selected for their behaviour, and ongoing achievements throughout the year. It also provides the opportunity to meet in a context that supports pride, identity and achievement. Participants often develop the confidence and ability to play a key role in sports development and community engagement within their own communities.

    Tim Tszyu vs Carlos Ocampo | Interim World Title Fight

    Tim Tszyu is set to defend his WBO super-welterweight interim world title against Carlos Ocampo at the Gold Coast Convention and Exhibition Centre. Ocampo, is a former world title challenger from Mexico, with 34 wins and two losses as a professional, with 22 coming by way of knockout. He is the #1 ranked super welterweight out of Mexico. The card will also feature No Limit fighters Sam Goodman in a world title eliminator and the return of Liam Wilson. Read more here.     Coachai School Holiday Rugby League Clinic U9-U14

    Coachai are bringing you another Gold Coast School Holiday Rugby League Clinic with Corey Thompson (NRL Star) and Baden Kerr (Super Rugby Player). They have designed their Rugby League clinic for Under 9 to Under 14 year old children to come and participate. They have Corey Thompson, retired National Rugby League Player and Baden Kerr, retired International Rugby Union Player hosting the event and sharing their skills and experience with you all. Corey Thompson and Baden Kerr will be working on game skills and management, skills and techniques, defence and attacking formations and most of all, everyone is there to have a lot of fun! Coachai has been hosting clinics up and down the east coast targeting to this age bracket to improve and support grassroots development in Rugby League. You will need to get in quickly as spots are filling up fast for each age group.

    Gold Coast Marathon

    This world-class event, Australia's favourite holiday marathon is staged annually on Queensland's Gold Coast. This internationally famous event features a fast and flat course that follows the magnificent Gold Coast Broadwater, the golden beaches of the Gold Coast from Main Beach to Burleigh Heads. It starts and finishes in the iconic Southport Broadwater Parklands. Featuring eight races over two days, this event has appeal for runners of all abilities, including two kilometres and four kilometres junior dash events, the five-kilometre Fun Run, and the ten kilometre Run, the Half Marathon (21.1kilometres) and the Gold Coast Marathon (42.195 kilometres). Seasoned runners can combine events and complete one race on Saturday and another on Sunday.

    Junior State Cup

    The Junior State Cup is the premier junior affiliate touch football competition in Queensland. Queensland Touch Football is excited to announce the 2023 event will now be held in Rockhampton at the Cyril Connell Fields, home of the Rockhampton Touch Football Association. The event is held in July annually and provides the platform for junior touch football players to compete to the named the champion affiliate in their age division. The event is open to affiliate teams across Queensland and is a fun, safe event for Junior Touch Football lovers!

    Gold Coast Kokoda Challenge

    Join the Kokoda Challenge on July 15, and test your physical and mental limits by walking through the Gold Coast Hinterland over a distance of 30km, 48km, or 96km. This endurance event is Australia’s toughest team challenge and will push you to the brink of your capabilities. With over 4,000 meters of elevation and 39 hours of walking through the day and night, regardless of weather conditions, you will experience a test of strength and determination. The challenging course includes inclines, mud, and creeks, and pays tribute to the sacrifices of the Diggers who fought in the 1942 Kokoda Campaign. Take on a personal challenge and give back to your community. The funds raised support Kokoda Youth Foundation programs to help kids in the local community. The Kokoda Youth Programs provide disadvantaged and disengaged youth with the tools to realise their full potential by instilling the values of the Kokoda Spirit; Courage, Endurance, Mateship, Sacrifice. Past competitors have called this event “physically and emotionally exhausting, but also the most incredible and inspiring thing we completed.” Every step is worth it as you prove to yourself what you are truly made of.
