Binna Burra is a stunning eco-retreat in the world-heritage listed Lamington National Park. It’s only an hour’s drive away from the beaches of the Gold Coast but feels like a different world. The hinterland haven provides the perfect escape from the stresses of everyday life and chance to get back to basics, connect with nature and experience a freedom and sense of peace that few places offer.
Some of the best bushwalks on the Gold Coast are found at Binna Burra. Take a short walk or a long trek deep into the forest, exploring boulder-strewn mountain streams, dramatic lookouts, cascading waterfalls and rugged cliffs. At 800m above sea level, the views across the escarpments and valleys down to the coast are incomparable and the mountain air is crisp and cool, even on hot days. An abundance of wildlife call Lamington National Park home and if you keep your eyes peeled you may spot koalas, goanna, wallabies, crayfish in the creeks and more than 600 species of birds.
In 2019 major bushfires destroyed many of the heritage-listed buildings at Binna Burra but a year later, it reopened with brand new facilities and accommodation. For those wanting an authentic bush experience, the Rainforest Campsite and Safari tents are ideal. For a more indulgent option, The Sky Lodges offer luxury apartment-style accommodation with breathtaking views from the bedroom and the bathtub. The Binna Burra Teahouse serves breakfast, lunch and dinner - enjoy your meal while taking in the view. Groom’s Cottage and Bushwalker’s Bar provides drinks, nibbles and light meals - the perfect place for a sundowner. Guests at Binna Burra can take part in onsite activities including archery, guided park tours, full-day hikes, spotlighting night walks, kids activities and more.
