Kids and Families Fishing Lesson - Currumbin
Do your kids want to go fishing but you're not sure what to do? Want to learn how to fish, but feel uncomfortable about it? Send them along to this award-winning program and they will take care of all the tangles, they've had plenty of experience with flying hooks over the past 18 years. They will ease everyone into fishing with this fun and educational activity. Classes are very hands-on, everyone will be shown how to use the equipment and receive help to correct their technique. Squeals of delight (maybe fear) can be heard echoing down the beach when the kids pump up yabbies. You and your family will have a ball learning an awesome life skill, bond and make wonderful memories for the day. Kids and families will learn to read the beach, catch bait with yabby pumps and a bait net, tie a fishing knot, cast a rod and hopefully land a fish. They will pick up plenty of tips to help make their next fishing adventure more successful. This class is for both kids and families. All bait and fishing equipment provided. All staff have blue cards for working with children. Bookings are essential.

Beaudesert Milky Way Masterclass 2024
Do you want to learn night photography to capture the beautiful Milky Way? Join multi-award-winning photographer David Magro for a night under the stars! Beginners and enthusiasts are welcome. The Masterclass takes place in a classroom before spending the night photographing the stars. You will leave with beautiful photographs. Most cameras can photograph the Milky Way and galaxies. Borrow one of their cameras on the night. Masterclass details will be provided upon booking . The Masterclass venue is the Beaudesert Bowls Cluband the amazing nearby dark sky photography location will be at Wyaralong Dam, directions will be provided on the night. During this Masterclass, participants will have the opportunity to learn how to photograph the Milky Way and the night sky. You will also gain insights into composing your photographs in low-light conditions and discover techniques to produce clear, noise-free images. Additionally, you will explore the art of seamlessly capturing breathtaking panoramas and acquire valuable knowledge for planning your future night photography sessions. Furthermore, the Masterclass will cover mastering effective editing techniques using the Milky Way Masterclass Suite. Following lunch, head over to HOTA Gallery for informative talks and tours led by educators, centred around the ongoing exhibition program and works from the HOTA Collection. Experience an immersive educational journey, unlocking the wonders of the arts and the behind-the-scenes magic. Suitable for grade 3 to 12 and all arts subjects. Sneakers Unboxed | Drawing for Life with Sarah HustonEach month we invite leading artists and performers to curate poses, subjects and performances for you to draw, with all materials provided. Relax and unwind with short, guided drawing warm-ups, followed by long and sustained poses or still life subjects, with help from our guest artist and team of artist educators. Whether you’re new to drawing or one of the greats, all abilities are welcome to enjoy this unique and artful experience. The next two sessions, inspired by Gallery 1 exhibition Sneakers Unboxed: Studio to Street will have a sporty flavour and will be facilitated by Sarah Huston! Artist Bio Sarah Huston’s career spans many mediums and industries. Her professional background includes working as a creative director, designer, curator, event producer, artist, and founder of the women’s skateboarding media platform, Yeah Girl. These days you’ll mostly find Sarah working as an actor, a stunt performer, or consulting for organisations and brands on all things skateboarding.

Cooly Classic Ocean Swim Festival
Swimmers have a rare opportunity to swim a course with some of Australia’s most revered surf breaks as your backdrop – Snapper Rocks, Coolangatta and Kirra. There are four distances, from 1km to 5km, but it’s always the 2.0km Cooly Classic from Snapper Rocks to Kirra Beach which attracts the masses. Your Start line, Snapper Rocks, is one of the world’s most famous surf breaks. Then, your course is a straight line to Kirra Beach, passing Rainbow Bay, Greenmount and Coolangatta Beaches as you swim. Throughout the week, there’ll be a range of small group sessions and clinics with guest coaches. This is a chance to receive specialist coaching and also swim with local squads at some of the Gold Coast’s favourite open-water training locations.
