2024 Sanctuary Cove International Boat Show

Cooly Rocks On
Celebrating the motors, music and lifestyle of yesteryear. Featuring one of Australia’s best Show ‘N’ Shine displays, the festival showcases an impressive collection of hot rods, kustom vehicles, lowbrow art and more, with more than 900 vehicles lining the streets of Coolangatta. As for the music, some of the best rock ‘n’ roll, swing, rockabilly and tribute artists from around the world will take to the stage throughout the festival. The 2023 artist lineup featured the likes of The Go Getters (SWE), Boom! Boom! Deluxe (NZ), Johnny Pandora (JPN), as well as international Elvis Tribute Artists like Shawn Klush (USA) and Jimmy Holmes (USA). Cooly Rocks On is also one of two festivals held in Australia to host an official preliminary round of the Ultimate Elvis Tribute Artist Contest, with the winner heading straight to Elvis Week in Memphis, USA. The annual Cooly Rocks Pin-up Pageant is another festival favourite and if you’re in need of some retro goods and memorabilia, make sure to check out the Nostalgia Markets on the Coolangatta beachfront. With many free and ticketed entertainment options across the action-packed five-day festival, we can’t wait to turn back the clock on Coolangatta!

Burleigh Heads Milky Way Masterclass 2024
Do you want to learn night photography to capture the beautiful Milky Way? Join multi-award-winning photographer David Magro for a night under the stars! Beginners and enthusiasts are welcome. The Masterclass takes place in a classroom before spending the night photographing the stars. You will leave with beautiful photographs. Most cameras can photograph the Milky Way and galaxies. Borrow one of their cameras on the night. Masterclass details will be provided upon booking . The Masterclass venue is the Burleigh Leagues Club, and the amazing nearby dark sky photography location will be along Fingal Head Lighthouse, directions will be provided on the night. Lifesaving World Championships
The Lifesaving World Championships is the biggest competition in life-saving sport worldwide. This event showcases excellence in lifesaving sport and rescue through different competition events on the beach, in the ocean and in the pool. It attracts the world’s most talented and skilled lifesaving athletes, competing for the title of 'the world’s best'. Over 5,000 athletes including Olympians and World Champions from youth to masters, and 12,000 supporters from 50 countries will take part in the competition running over 19 days. Beach and ocean events are being held at Kurrawa, Broadbeach and pool rescue events at the world-class Gold Coast Aquatic Centre. The event program will include a spectacular Opening and Closing ceremony, rescue demonstrations, a festival zone with entertainment for your family and friends to enjoy and the historical March Past is not to be missed.

The Doyles Art Award
An annual not-for-profit art award and exhibition held in the beautiful historic village of Mudgeeraba. Artists compete for cash prizes with the winner taking home $20,000. Focusing on representational art, The Doyles Award exhibits over 300 artworks entered by local and national artists. Categories include Landscape, Still Life, Figurative, Juniors and All Abilities. Start your art collection, or add to an existing one! All adult artwork is available for purchase. Entry is absolutely free. Gold Coast Marathon - Powered by Chery
This world-class event, Australia's favourite holiday marathon is staged annually on Queensland's Gold Coast. This internationally famous event features a fast and flat course that follows the magnificent Gold Coast Broadwater, the golden beaches of the Gold Coast from Main Beach to Burleigh Heads. It starts and finishes in the iconic Southport Broadwater Parklands. Featuring eight races over two days, this event has appeal for runners of all abilities, including two kilometres and four kilometres junior dash events, the five-kilometre Fun Run, and the ten kilometre Run, the Half Marathon (21.1kilometres) and the Gold Coast Marathon (42.195 kilometres). Seasoned runners can combine events and complete one race on Saturday and another on Sunday.
