The Beatlegs Dinner and Show

Kids and Families Fishing Lesson – Paradise Point
Do your kids want to go fishing but you’re not sure what to do? Want to learn how to fish, but feel uncomfortable about it? Send them along and they will take care of all the tangles, while they learn alongside other kids or families in the same boat. 2 Bent Rods will ease everyone into fishing with this fun and educational activity. Classes are very hands-on, everyone will be shown how to use the equipment and receive help to correct their technique. Kids and families will learn to read the beach, catch bait with yabby pumps and a bait net, tie a fishing knot, cast a rod and hopefully land a fish. They will pick up plenty of tips to help make their next fishing adventure more successful. This class is for both kids and families. All bait and fishing equipment provided. Bookings are essential.

Indie Alt Country Sunday Matinee
If your darlin' has run off with your best friend's dog and left you with nothing but memories and an empty fridge, then head on down to Mo's Desert Clubhouse for an uplifting afternoon of indie and alt country goodness. Featuring These Idle Hands, The Melancholics, The Goldhearts and The Neon Signs. This will be the first show in three years for local indie rockers The Goldhearts, who are reforming just for this show. Fresh from the studio, The Melancholics will drown your sorrows with their sweet harmonies and catchy alt country tunes. The Neon Signs will light it up playing their blend of dark country, guitar riffs and driving double bass. Local alt country legends, These Idle Hands, with two acclaimed albums under their belt, will help drown your sorrows as you wonder how much you miss that dog. This is an all ages event.

Improv: Fun and Games
Think on your feet! Learn how to face your fears of being in front of an audience! Enhance your skills to think outside the box and learn how to be funnier! In this seven-week improvisation course by Blah Blah Blah Improv, you’ll have fun learning how to make up short comedy sketches on the spot. You’ll also get to play some of the hilarious theatresports games made famous by the hit improv show Whose Line Is It Anyway?. Over seven weeks, you’ll learn ways to: Embrace failure Be in the moment Be a better listener “Yes, and?” (work with other ideas) Run with your first instinct Create whole comedy scenes from a small suggestion Be a supportive team player Connect with others It doesn’t matter if you've previously performed, because we create a supportive and inclusive community in our classroom that feels safe and is loads of fun! Some people learn improv to become better at auditions or stand up comedy, while others learn improv to apply the techniques socially or at work. Whatever your reason for learning improv, you’ll learn techniques that will increase your awareness and skills that could enhance other areas of your life. There’s no preplanning or scripts—so get out of your head, be in the moment, and have some fun with them!

Alienist Presents "The Love//Hate Australian Tour" Featuring Alienist, Atlvs & Synge with special gu
Wollongong metalcore band Alienist and UNFD presents "The Love//Hate Tour". Their first tour since signing with international record label "UNFD" and releasing their debut EP "Love/Hate". Alienist have swiftly stormed the heavy scene in a remarkably short space of time, chalking up Triple J airplay, being featured in major publications such as Kerrang, Knotfest and Revolver and playing alongside bands such as Northlane, Windwaker, Gravemind and Paledusk and an appearance at UNIFY Off The Record. Showcasing the newest music from their discography alongside some older songs fans will be familiar with in a live set built from the ground up for new and old fans alike. Prepare to witness Alienist in a whole new light. Joining them are the Melbourne heavy hitters "ATLVS", who have a few Australian tours under their belt and bring an aggressive and heavy live set. They have played alongside bands such as Erra, We Came As Romans and Kingdom Of Giants. To round out the trio of bands for this tour is Good Things Band Competition winners from Sydney "Synge". Who not only blew people away at Good Things Festival but have also played alongside bands such as Ocean Sleeper, Windwaker and Volumes. This tour will be full of breakdowns, singalongs and mayhem. You don't want to miss it. This is an 18-plus event.

Lifesaving World Championships
The Lifesaving World Championships is the biggest competition in life-saving sport worldwide. This event showcases excellence in lifesaving sport and rescue through different competition events on the beach, in the ocean and in the pool. It attracts the world’s most talented and skilled lifesaving athletes, competing for the title of 'the world’s best'. Over 5,000 athletes including Olympians and World Champions from youth to masters, and 12,000 supporters from 50 countries will take part in the competition running over 19 days. Beach and ocean events are being held at Kurrawa, Broadbeach and pool rescue events at the world-class Gold Coast Aquatic Centre. The event program will include a spectacular Opening and Closing ceremony, rescue demonstrations, a festival zone with entertainment for your family and friends to enjoy and the historical March Past is not to be missed.

The Songwriting Prize Gold Coast Semi Final
The Songwriting Prize, now in its 9th year, is Australia's largest live music songwriting competition, and the first with a mental health focus. Brought to you by award-winning mental health music charity Listen Up Music. After a record-breaking year - receiving 444 artist entries, it’s time to hear the cream of the crop from your region at this Semi Final, one of seven taking place across the country. The events are especially unique, with the coming together of a community to support artists who will perform their short-listed song on the theme of ‘Acceptance’. You will hear the story behind each song, the songs performed live, and a judging panel will give feedback after each entrant's song. At the culmination of the evening, the top 2 will progress to the Grand Final and be in with a shot of $50k of prizes. This is an 18-plus event.
