It's a Boo-tiful Night for Halloween at the Southport Yacht Club! Come and have a skele-ton of fun! Wear your costume and get to win prizes for the Best Dressed! This live edutainment extravaganza is jam-packed with all your favourite Pevan & Sarah bangers. Audiences will sing, learn and laugh their way through a 50 minute adventure and have their little minds blown as they witness this dynamic duo come to life on stage. This interactive performance will weave its way through many points of the literacy and numeracy curriculum as well as highlighting key early years experiences such as teamwork, social skills and managing emotions.Together, the big friendly tiger and his pocket rocket bestie will rock the house with a performance that’s equal parts musical, educational, hilarious and downright FUN! SandSong
SandSong: Stories from the Great Sandy DesertUnder the vast Kimberley sky, the red pindan dust stretches across the desert homelands of the Walmajarri, where the ancient knowledge of People and of Country is preserved through Songlines that have endured for hundreds of generations. SandSong tells the unique story of this Place and the survival of its People. Between the 1920s and 1960s, Aboriginal people were removed off their Country and forced into hard labour for no wages and only minimal rations. Despite this displacement and cultural disruption, the people of the Western Desert have maintained unbroken connection to their Land, keeping stories and kinship strong. This is the Country of Wangkatjungka woman Ningali Josie Lawford-Wolf (1967-2019), an important cultural consultant and artistic collaborator of Bangarra whose spirit, stories and artistic contributions have inspired a number of the company’s works,and enriched the broader arts landscape. SandSong is created by Bangarra Dance Theatre in consultation with Wangkatjungka/Walmajarri Elders from the Kimberley and Great Sandy Desert regions. This work honours the legacy of Ningali Josie Lawford-Wolf and her family - past, present and future.SandSong is recommended for ages 12+ due to political and social themes, including aspects and depictions related to traumatic events suffered by First Nations Peoples. History of HouseHistory of House, a collaboration between ARIA-nominated DJ Groove Terminator and three-time Grammy®-winners Soweto Gospel Choir, is an exhilarating journey through the history of dance music. Take the world’s greatest gospel choir who’ve performed live with stars including Aretha Franklin, Stevie Wonder, Bono, Queen and Celine Dion, add in some funky 70s disco, sprinkle in some 80s pop and then strap in to be schooled in house music, from the mid-80s, through the 90s, to the end of the millennium. Women's Fishing Lesson - Paradise Point
Ever want to go fishing but you're not sure what to do? Want to learn so you can take the kids out fishing and look like a pro? Want to learn how to fish, but feel uncomfortable about it? Come along to this award winning program and let the team at 2 Bent Rods take care of all the tangles, they've had plenty of experience with flying hooks over the past 18 years. Everyone will be eased into fishing with this fun and educational activity. Classes are very hands on, everyone will be shown how to use the equipment and receive help to correct their technique. Get your feet wet and enjoy the sand between your toes as you pump up yabbies. Have a ball learning an awesome life skill, bond and make wonderful memories for the day. Learn to read the beach, catch bait with yabby pumps and a bait net, tie a fishing knot, cast a rod and hopefully land a fish. You will pick up plenty of tips to help make your next fishing adventure more successful.
